about
As Reach recover from an extensive and wildely successful tour around Europe supporting H.E.A.T, and the highly anticipated release of ‘The Promise of a Life (Deluxe)’, an extended version of their album including previously unheard songs, they release a funeral edit of their single 'Ängel' – their first release in Swedish. Ängel is written as a tribute to a diceased father and the original grand power ballad is now released in a solemn, fragile, acoustic version, letting Turners vocals get the attention that the sensitive storytelling so well deserves.
Ludvig Turner explains the origin of the funeral edit: "We got a request for a mellow version of Ängel for a funeral and sadly enough this song is a good bye song and suits very well for this kind of ceremony. We recorded it with vocals and piano like it was written and decided to release it as a funeral edit, wich is exactly what it is. Since it´s in Swedish we went outside of the Reach sound, being big theatrical arrangements, and made it a little bit more... Honest."
The trio consisting of Ludvig Turner, Marcus Johansson and Soufian Ma’Aoui is characterized by a mutual love of music and a sense of development and genuine joy, that is, and always will be, the very essence of Reach. The bond that connects the three musicians is captured in their explosive and unforgettable live shows: their innate musical ability bolstered by their sense of playfulness, improvisation and love for what they do.
Just back from an extensive tour around Europe alongside H.E.A.T Turner says: "We´re overwhelmed by the support and reactions from the tour with H.E.A.T. For a band like Reach to open up for a classic rock band went just as expected. For the first 2-3 songs the audience looks a bit confused. When we start to play "Young Again" we see people smile, during "Motherland" they dance and as the bass starts playing the intro to "The Law" we´re playing in front of new Reach fans. It was our first time playing the songs of "The Promise of a Life" live and they sound even better live than on record and they sound damn well on record. We´re thankful for our chance to go out as H.E.A.T´s support act and we´re confident that we should keep doing what we do."
